Linden Lab Policy and Raffles

Happy Hump Day Fellow Breeders:

I continually see posts, in breedable advertising groups, of markets holding raffles. As a courtesy to all fellow breeders, I would like to address the Linden Lab policy on wagering in Second Life.

Gambling is legally restricted in the United States and because Linden Labs is a United States based company they must adhere to such restrictions. However, this policy applies to all users of Second Life as it describes what Linden Lab believes it must do in order to maintain an atmosphere in which all applicable laws are respected.

Per policy: (last modified on 9 July 2014)

It is a violation to wager in games in the Second Life environment, operated on Linden Lab servers, if such games:

  1. Rely on chance or random number generation to determine a winner,
  2. Rely on the outcome of real-life organized sporting events,

AND provide a payout in

  1. Linden Dollars (L$)
  2. Any real-world currency or thing of value.

The list of games in the policy are only examples. But, by definition, a raffle is a gambling competition and falls into the broad category of prohibited wagering. This encompasses sploders, as well.(People risk Linden dollars on a random chance that something will occur.)

To stay within Linden Lab’s policy on gambling, a raffle cannot be paid to enter. That is, a raffle must either not charge for entries or not give away anything of value. Since practically anything could be considered to have value, the only solution is to not charge for entry.

This is not saying that Linden Lab does not allow wagering at all, but, it must be located on a gaming sim, developed by and owned by a licensed person. To become a Skill Gaming Region, you must apply to Linden Lab as an approved operator. However, they are no longer accepting operator applications at this time! Also, you must verify the age of legal majority, jurisdiction and account verification of each participant to allow someone to participate in a game of skill.

And, while you may still see raffle boards available for purchase on the marketplace, I would question how long that advertisement has been there. Linden Lab could take those ads down, but there is no legal requirement that they do. It is part of the EULA (end-user license agreement) that everyone agrees to, which absolves them of responsibility for such things. The EULA puts the responsiblity of your Second Life activities on you and you are expected to know the rules and to conduct your activities in Second Life in a legal way.

Linden Lab will actively enforce this policy. When Linden Lab discovers objects or games within Second Life that meet the policy’s definition, they will remove them from Second Life. They reserve the right to suspend or terminate the accounts of residents involved without refund or payment, and may report any relevant details, including user information, to authorities and financial institutions. Repeat offenders will be suspended or terminated.

Go here for a detailed list of definded terms and references:

Please be mindful of your in-world activities. I would hate to see any breeder lose their account for violation of Linden Lab’s Terms of Service because they were not knowledgeable of this policy.

Until next time…Safe and Happy Breeding!

Today is National Fudge Day!!

Happy Saturday everyone – I hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far!!

So today is NATIONAL FUDGE DAY and  who doesn’t love fudge!!

National Fudge Day is observed annually on June 16th. National Fudge Day is a food holiday that allows you to indulge in your favorite flavor of this delicious confectionery. Some of the most familiar fudge flavors are chocolate, chocolate nut, peanut butter, maple and maple nut.

Fudge lends itself to experimentation when it comes to flavors. Blending favorites or even a moment of inspiration will create a new delicious kind of fudge. Adding bits of candy, nuts or sprinkles can add just the right celebratory burst of excitement to an old favorite.

There are three other fudge holidays on the calendar at this time. May 12 celebrates all those nutty fudges. July 22 marks National Penuche Fudge Day. Finally, on November 20 National Peanut Butter Fudge Day is celebrated.

In the late 19th century, some shops on Mackinac Island, Michigan, began to produce similar products as the Vassar College fudge and sold it to summer vacationers. Fudge is still made in some of the original shops located on the famous island.

Pick up some fudge at your local confectionery store and share it with family and friends.   Use #NationalFudgeDay on social media. Here are some fudge recipes if you feel like making your own.

Two-layer Cookie Crunch Fudge

White Chocolate Fudge

Easy Chocolate Fudge

Hot Fudge sauce

Now this “recipe” may take a little longer but so worth it!!

Why not try to get an amazing Confection coat especially that yummy looking Hot Fudge Sundae Confection coat

Set The Night To Music

Happy Hump Day Fellow Breeders!

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound organized in time. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the “color” of a musical sound). Dance is generally, though not exclusively, performed with the accompaniment of music.

Music and dance are deeply linked in history and practice. In many cultures, music and dance are an important part of people’s way of life, as they play a key role in religious rituals, rite of passage ceremonies, social activities and cultural activities

Music can be therapeutic, both mentally and physically. It has been used to improve learning, build self-esteem, reduce stress, support physical exercise (through dance), and facilitate a host of other health-related activities.

Who hasn’t hear the common saying, “it is music to my ears,” to represent a pleasant notion? So, it goes without saying, music can conjure a mixture of emotions and memories.

It was one such memory, that led our fellow breeder, Sedan7777, to bid on the Create Your Own Horse Eye at the 2015 Amaretto Summer Fest Auction.

“The design of this eye is very close to my heart because the theme has played a huge part in my family’s history of music and dance. This eye reminds me of my parents. They went dancing every chance they got. They showed me pictures of themselves in dance halls, from before I was ever born. My mom was a Jazz fan and loved Benny Goodman. I cherish those memories and wanted to create music traits for them, ” said Sedan.

Sedan added, “It was, also, created for all the people who love music, dancing, and lets not forget…a little romance!” 💕 So without further ado, I present to you the stunning “Set The Night To Music” horse eye!

See the eye first hand at any of these display locations:

But, that’s not all folks! Look for a NEW “Rhapsody and Music” wing coming soon!

Till next time…Let the music play on and happy breeding! 🎶

And today is……………..

Hello everyone hope you are having a fabulous weekend!!

So did you all know that today is NATIONAL STRAWBERRY RHUBARB PIE DAY!!!

On June 9th of each year, National Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day is observed. A tart vegetable, rhubarb is often paired with sweet fruits making for a delicious dessert.

Around the country, rhubarb is a perennial favorite for home gardens. One of the first fruits of their labors, gardeners begin to harvest rhubarb in the middle of May and early June, and it finds its way into desserts and preserves. Since it takes on the flavor of the fruit or vegetable it is paired with, it is an excellent compliment to many recipes.

Not only is rhubarb known for making deliciously baked goods and satisfying the hankering for something from the garden early in the season, but it also has many other qualities. Rub a cut stalk of rhubarb over a burnt skillet and let the high oleic acid content do the work. It’s been a primary ingredient in many cleansers for over a 100 years.

Rhubarb is so high in oleic acid, in fact, the leaves are toxic to humans. The stalks, however, are a consumable, rich and healthful source of oleic acid. The benefits of enjoying rhubarb could help reduce blood pressure, increase your body’s ability to burn fat and generate brain myelin. Now, that’s a reason to celebrate National Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day!

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Makes one 9-inch pie

  • 1 recipe unbaked homemade double pie crust
  • 2 1/2 cups rhubarb, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces (about 3 large stalks)
  • 2 1/2 cups hulled and sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour or 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
  • 1  large egg yolk beaten to blend with 1 teaspoon water (for glaze)

Preheat the oven to 450°F.

Prepare the bottom crust by rolling out one of the pastry disks to an 11-inch circle. Nestle the crust inside the pan so about an inch hangs over the sides. Press the pastry down. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for about 10 minutes.

Mix the fruit with the sugar, flour (or cornstarch) and lemon zest. Using the tines of a fork, poke the bottom of the pie crust evenly about five times. Pour the fruit mixture into the chilled pastry. Dot with the butter pieces.

Moisten the edge of the bottom crust with a finger dipped in water. Put on the top pastry in one piece and slice in a few air vents, or in a lattice pattern, trim, and crimp the edges.

Brush the egg glaze over the crust. Transfer the pie to a baking sheet.

Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350°F and bake another 30 minutes longer, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

Remove from the oven and cool on a rack before serving.

*********Now I wonder if anyone has ever made a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie horse?*********

Until next time this is Snookie saying have a fun, fun weekend & Happy Breeding!!
