So, Kaw-liga Breeder (from day 1) comes back in world after a lengthy hiatus. He discovers he has a first birthday Amaretto Lollapadoozie male bundle with double long and an eye that is rumored to bring magic with EVERY breeding...rumor even has it that when it retires, after 180 days, that horses in the 8 nearest sims will never ever need any salt! This is just an amazing bundle. Since it has been many years since Kaw-liga logged in, he has NO friends online. NONE. He has to start sim hopping to see if his Lollapadoozie male might be of interest to someone. He asks a few folks and Tecumseh Breeder (who has been active in world and breeding all these years) hears about it. Now, Tecumseh  is not the most scrupulous person. He approaches Kaw-liga and says "I hear you have a Lollapadoozie male bundle...are you interested in selling it? if so, I am willing to offer you 10k$L, right this moment, provided you rez it so I can verify the stats." Kaw-liga thinks wow, this is incrdedible. So. Kaw-liga and Tecumseh meet at a public sand box. The bundle is rezzed and legit. Tecumseh is just about beside himself with joy at his good fortune. Kaw-liga sets the bundle for sale, Tecumseh buys is and TPs as fast as he can.

Fast forward 5 days and (long term breeder) Samuel L Jackson sees the Lollapadoozie stud in all his glory and does some research and finds out where it came from, as in the previous owner. (Which CAN be done with the lineage system). SLJ reaches out to Kaw-liga and asks if he has anymore of those and Lollapadoozie bundles. Kaw-liga looks and as luck would have it, he does indeed have a female bundle. SLJ asks if he would be willing to take 100k$L for the bundle, and explains why this bundle is so special. Kaw-liga is ready to blow a gasket and leap with joy.

(This analogy\fabrication was just an example as to what CAN happen when different opinions are given, because not everyone is going to be conducting themselves with integrity.)

Another one.

Pudge Jeronimo Breeder logs back in after being out of second life for 4 or 5 years. He remembers how much he enjoyed the amaretto horses from a few years ago, so he puts in "Amaretto" in search. Obviously, there are many listings, so he comes to my sim and tells his story. He pulls out a black "Azteca" male bundle with a fresian mane and tail. It also carries the "Fantismal polk-a-dot eye". And asks what it is worth, I tell him that's not a common one by any means and all depending on where he goes and who sees it, it could likely bring 12 to 20k. He is happy, he goes on his way and takes it to Ava's elite on the 5th Friday of the month. He opens it at 10k, just to see what happens. It sells for 15k. Fast forward 5 days and Skip Turkey hears about the Azteca, which he has wanted forever and a day. He sends an IM to Pudge and offers 40k for any females he may have and 60 for any males he may have.

So, who is Pudge going to be mad at?

Obviously, these are analogies and complete fabrications. However, the possibilities for these exact things to happen are very, very real.

Would you ask someone to put a value on a painting that you spent 200 hours painting and went to the finest art school to learn how to do?

This would be why I don't like to offer advice on pricing. It puts one more monkey on my back and can lead to bad feelings.

It's an invite to jump in front of an oncoming bus.
